WORLDS APART
“It’s Mam. She struggles so I like… I help look after her. That’s why we moved in with my Grandma. I’m just still getting used to it, you know, not being the only one there to take care of her.”
As 3 generations are thrown together in a house in Seaburn after years of being apart, Penny, Egg and Helen go on a unlikely journey of discovery as they face up to monsters online and in the real world.
Directed by Poppy Crawshaw, lighting/video design by Si Cole, set/costume design by Lu Hubert, movement direction by Lucy Marie Curry.
Cast: Ayla Brown, Rosie Stancliffe and Jacqueline Phillips.
Characters and concept created in collaboration with unpaid carers and older people living in residential care homes.
Performed at Northern Stage, April 2023.
“Worlds Apart nailed the levels of honesty and raw emotion that can be felt, alongside isolation by unpaid carers. It was lovely to see the love and humanity still there.”
